Meaning Of Arithmetic Progression

The terms of a sequence are said to be in Arithmetic Progression (AP) when they differ by a constant value known as their common difference denoted by d.

In other words, the difference between any two consecutive terms in an AP is constant.

e.g., The sequence 2, 6, 10, 14, 18, 22,..., is an arithmetic progression, whose first term is 2 and common difference is 4.

An arithmetic progression is represented by a, ( a + b), ( a + 2d), (a + 3d), ...[ a + ( n - 1)d]

Here,       a = First term

                d = Common difference

                n = Number of terms in the progression
